In 2007, our founder Bill Bender grabbed a solar energy textbook off his shelf.
He had one question: how could he make a difference in the fight against fossil fuels and climate change?
For years, Bill and local Dartmouth engineering students experimented in Bill’s backyard. First they designed heliostats that concentrated the sun’s energy, evolving into solar panels mounted on trackers that could reliably track the sun’s motion across the sky. They earned a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Sunshot Program for their efforts.
The team perfected the design and in 2013 our first customer’s tracker system went into the ground. Since then, we’ve deployed over 1,300.
